Children’s folklore ensemble at the School of arts of J.Kresánek, Bratislava – Slovak Republic

Children’s folklore ensemble Čečinka was established at the Elementary School of Arts of J.Kresánek in Bratislava in 1978. Today there are 80 active members and 40 members in its preparation group. Girls and boys aged from 6 to 16 years are united together not only by their same place of residence – the capital of Slovakia Bratislava, but especially because of their deep relationship to folklore.

Since its foundation the CFE Čečinka has brought up more than 800 dancers, 100 musicians and singers. The ensemble has had more than 1.000 preformances not only in Bratislava, but throughout the whole territory of Slovakia and in abroad. It represented Slovakia in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Belorussia, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Hawai,Yugoslavia, USA,Poland and the Czech Republic.

The repertoary includes original folklore according to the research works and also stylized folklore. The ensemble’s programme is variable from 15 to 90 minutes and the promotion material – posters, bulletins, a video cassette, DVD – are available.
